I have a jd 7000 min till set on 36in rows I want to go to 30in I have been looking at it is it as easy as it looks to be just unbolting and moving things and mine has never sat out so everything on it will move like new .?

No, it's not as easy as it looks. I haven't done it, but I have read about others who have. I think you have to move either the transmission and/or the wheel frames to allow for repositioning the planting units on 30" centers. Involves cutting the current mounts off the frame and re-welding them where they aren't in the way of the planting units. Not to mention, you need to be a pretty good welder to re-weld those re-positioned mountings perfectly square. When the 7000 Planter was new, the factory offered one frame designed for wide rows and another one designed for narrow rows. 1977 Deere Price Book says narrow row model could be adjusted for either 30, 32 or 34 inch rows. Wide row model could be adjusted for 36, 38 or 40 inch rows. Good luck!

I've got a 8 row narrow and I can weld mine is a later model I just need something to do really when I start I will be Shute to add pics just never done one . My moto is if someone else can do it I can to and I have the tools but it really does look easy cut weld bolt

Are you doing this to match a combine? 36 is fine for populations up to 26k. WHy are you wanting to change?

I turned my 8rw 7000 into a 10rn, everything will slide and adjust but the driver shaft from the wheels needs to have the sprockets repositioned, I had to lenghten it and re-drill the holed for the drive dogs

Well with the snow and cold I want something to do and we do custom planting and just add a ex planter some people want 4 rows some want 6 some want 8 my 4row is the only one on 36 see I took a 4row 30 and made it a 8 30 front fold can plant 4 rows with it but we use it for custom what just one for the house while others r out making money

One version of the 7000 (Conservation?) has bolt on wheels, and is easy to move.

They typical model with the rock shaft, you need to cut the ears on the rock shaft, and fab up new ones in closer.

It is a basicly a easy job, cuting, welding back in place. The biggest problem with mine was the markers had to be cut down and it throws the balance of them off so they don't "drop" like they are supposed to (kinda slow)
