Rototller

I have a used 712 H Allis Challmers and am new to this machine. I can not get the rototiller into gear. What could I be doing wrong. The owner before me said that the unit just quit working and so he gave me the unit. The tractor part works fine. Thank you in advance for any advise or help. There are no dealers in this area of the country.

If the belt is the right size and the pulleys are the right ones and not seized up then all you should have to do is pull the handle forward IIRC. That should tighten the belts and it should spin. If the gearbox on the tiller is froze up or you have bad bearings, that can be the problem too.
