One Way Disk

Or diskers, as we knew them here. This was how I planted cereal grains up til 1989. This video of my 2090 Case pulling a single Massey Ferguson 360 disker was shot in the spring of 1988 planting barley. Pretty good moisture at planting but it hardly rained all summer and turned out to be the driest year with the lowest yielding crop I have harvested in over 40 years. This video was transferred from the original VHS tape and the quality is not great.

This is one of the toys I would like to add to my collection. Distance and cost keep me from looking for one. I should probably get one bought before they are all gone.

Up until a few years ago the diskers were common as dirt. You could hardly go to a farm auction without seeing a disker or two and they sold cheap since hardly anybody used them for seeding. I think I sold a JD 1800 series at a sale in the late nineties for less than $150. I've still got this Massey, an old Case 900, A John Deere surflex from the early 1950s. All in working condition and I use them on occasions for a small disking job.
7 years earlier I was pulling that same disker with a 930 Case. Sure with I still had that one.

(quoted from post at 05:36:47 02/10/14) While looking around the net I found this picture of a Disker being used in Australia.

Where are you located ?

S.E. Sask., where thirty years ago, diskers ruled. That is an interesting pic of the Aussie disker.
