Land Pride 2072 or Bush Hog BH16?

I'm in the market for a new rotary cutter. Will cut mostly grass and the occasional sapling. Both these cutters are fairly new and both companies make good products. I have always liked Bush Hog but have two concerns. 1st why do they only rate these to 45 tractor pto when it has a 65hp gear box? The Land Pride is rated up to 65hp. Secondly i am not sure I like the single arm attachment point for the tailwheel. Any thoughts? My tractor is a Ford 4600 with 52 PTO HP.

there is one out there i cant remember the maker but it has
2 blades its not a finish mower but the offset would make it
nice if you have fence rows to mow

(quoted from post at 22:51:26 01/31/14) Ever check out Woods? Whatever kind, seriously consider a 7 foot model....Ron

I know Woods has made some good stuff in the past but too scared to touch one of those now. They have had gear box issues and my local dealer gave up the line a year or two ago due to all the problems he was having. I've done alot of research too online and it seems Brown, Bush Hog, and Land Pride continue to make very good equipment. Brown probably being the beast of the bunch but too heavy for my setup. Woods may have everything under control but just not going to chance it when I know these other guys definitely make a great product.

FordManiac, So Farmers Ranchers will have a guide Line to the size tractor a given shredder should normally have in front of it.
A 7ft shredder can be behind a row-crop tractor up to 150 hp so gear box hp does become important.
JD has some of the toughest gear boxes in the Industry, I have personally twisted the Yolk assembly w/ a key-way, had to have a new Key-way recut 180* out from the original on an old JD 227 (7ft)( 2 different times) with my 110 Hp 966 IH tractor asking it to do more than it was ever designed to do. So Shi#-canning a gear box is not impossible.
But if all you have is a small hp tractor and will probably Never get another higher HP tractor say over 65 hp then most any tractor with hp under that rating will not Be able to tear up the gearbox in normal operations,... short of a catastrophic failure! Hope this helps!

I've had my Woods, BB84 for 12 years and use itdown near a creek bed in trees and lots of canary grass 36 inches tall, and it's never had any problems.
But it gets a mini ohaul every fall.

I have a 15 foot folding Land Pride and a 8 foot Bush hog. As for repair parts, I have found the Bush hog is extremely difficult to locate parts for. Their parts or not the same for the same mower. Their gear boxes are not what they use to be. Have not had any problems with the Land Pride in using it now for five years. The gear boxes on the Land Pride are much better designed and usefulness than the Bush hog. There are several levels of Bush hog mowers of the same cutting width. Some are heavy duty while some are very light. I cast my vote for the best, Land Pride.

Might want to read a little closer on the BH16. The Gearbox is rated at 65HP, Bush Hog also lists a tractor HP range for the rotary cutters, is that where you got the 45HP rating from? Never had any trouble getting Bush Hog parts.

Yes my tractor is 52pto hp but BH says that cutter is only good for up to 45 pto hp tractors. Their competitors say theres are good for tractors with up to 65pto hp. Strange?
