want to know how to tell what model planter units i have from pictures i have seen looks like a 600 frame

More than likely if it is a plate planter you have a 72 or a 74 unit.The main differences in the AC units are depth control.Some you turn a crank and others have a pin and a plate to adjust.There were also different boxes for seed,early had a metal can,then a plastic box and last ones had a fiberglass box.I will try to dig out some books in the next day or two.We had AC planters for years.No-till farmers today have AC to thank as they paved the way.The main reason we quit using them was that todays seed corn is not graded as well and we could not get the stands we were wanting.We now use a Deere 7200.

Thanks for the info the depth adjustment is a crank handle if that is a 72 or 74 unit now i know what books to look for and seed plates thanks again

Do not buy AC seed plates. You can use reguler plastic plates and buy a plastic adapter to use them in your planter.Any AC dealer should know what you need if not a place that carries plastic seed plates will.
