Massey Ferguson Model 25 Disc Harrow

I was just wondering if anyone knows what one of these weighs, kind of bearings it has, or what to look for on one, how to check for worn out disc's etc. I'm contemplating getting one of these, right size for my tractor, looks heavy enough, and I'm led to believe these were a nice smaller somewhat sought after, 3 pt disc and it would complete what I need for tillage. I'm assuming the gangs are adjustable.

This one is around 8'wide and seems to have a heavier pipe frame construction, not sure if there other models, from looking at old literature.

IIRC, some had greasable hard iron bearings and some had sealed ball bearings, depending on how they were ordered. Check to make sure the axle-to-frame supports are not bent.

Probably the best 3-point disc ever built. Don't know what they weigh but it'll dig like it weighs a ton! Gangs are adjustable (with levers by 3-point hitch mast. I won't go all the way out on the end of a limb and say they didn't have roller bearings as an option, but I will go as far as to say I've never seen one with roller bearings and my parts manual doesn't show such.

Cast "boxings" for bearings. NLA from AGCO/Massey. They will work just fine with a LOT of slack though.

The #25 does a great job of leveling a seed bed.

You're right. Only the iron boxings. I was thinking sealed bearings were optional on later production but I guess not. The iron boxings with the offset bolt holes in early production disks are difficult if not impossible to replace if they are broken or bad, but apparently the later production disks used boxings with centered bolt holes that can be replaced with generic parts from Agri-Supply.

I'm wondering if you can tell by the serial number, I believe this one has a legible tag. Be nice to know before hand, thanks for the info !

I've heard they perform very nice, for the soils here, and the size tractors I run, would be a nice match. I'll have to get some more information on it from the seller
