Manure spreader

Hello. I have what I think is a IH steel horse drawn manure spreader? IH is on the Hub. Wondering what it is worth? It still works just needs a short chain to the beaters.

Heather I had 1 of, those spent more time pitchin the loads off than I did hauling. If you can find someone that wants the steel wheels ??, rest is just scrap price.

If it works, the horse people want them around here. I'd hate to try to give you a value without seeing it though.

somebody in Wisconsin buys them to rebuild and sells them to the Amish, not sure what model they want, maybe the 4A? They want the 4 wheel model on steel.

Those spreaders in good working condition in Amish country $1,000 but they still have to have all 4 wheels on steel.

An IHC 100 or 200 spreader in working condition is a fine piece of equipment. About the best shredding system and widespread I've ever seen. Problem is they use a Type S apron chain which is near obsolete these days.

If the thing is in good shape it's easily worth $500.00 on up. $300 would be a steal and anything under is on of those deal of a lifetime things. But if it's not in great shape that changes things. An apron chain, if you can find one, is going to run about $400.00 last I looked, without shipping and tax. Broken or worn out parts are hard to find and harder to replace. Bottom wood is no big deal, bad bearings or bushings are.

Where are you located Heather?

My amish hook trailer type to pull cart. funny think neighbor back in the day had a d 19 hooked up to a 12a new idea and for some reason he got in a hurry forgot the spreader and droped it in road gear he didnt go far but it was fun to watch.as far as parts ck with local amish if the dont have it the cane make it

Heather--Is the "short chain" the one on the right side of the spreader(while standing behind the spreader, and looking forward)? If so, it is probably a #55. It would take about 38 links. I'll look to see if I have that much on hand.

If it has a steel floor in it, It is a 4-A All Steel Spreader, this a very good spreader still used by the Amish, I spent the last week of 2013 helping a Amish farmer that just moved in the area get his barn cleaned out were beef cows had been in for the last 5 years using the 4-A spreader loading it with a pitch fork. The model 100 and 200 spreaders had a wood floor with steel sides, the 200 was made as a 4 wheel unit as well as a 2 wheel unit for use with tractor. Where are you located? Can you post a picture?

Nice job I have 100 and 200 4 wheel spreader all restored and not to haul s--- with either talk the dogs out of the wheels so it can't ever be engaged accidently, one question no jack on the 100 did they come with one not sure and if did would like to find one thanks.

KevinB----I've never seen a Mod 100 with a jack stand. It's possible that since they(the Mod 100s) were smaller, that the designer assumed that a stand wouldn't be necessary.

Never seen a stand that wasn't being used.

My model 100 has the control handles on the sides. On the front of the spreader down near the bottom of the front is the bracket where the seat spring or post attached. I bought it with the tractor front end with just 2 wheels. I ended up welding a trailer jack on the hitch so I could detach the tractor to use the bucket to load it and then hook up and go spread.
