update on Coulters, landsides, and tailwheels... sort of

Hi, All,

bought a package deal of older equipment. I got an Athens 5 1/2 foot disc that looks like a Model 37 but has a beefier frame. It does hinge in the middle like the 37 shown on their web site. The bearings are all solid, no play at all.

I also got a 2 bottom Ford 101 that based on my perusal of the CNH parts page appears to have a sliding landside with a wear pad rather than a furrow wheel, and lacks coulters. I am not worried about originality- any coulters that will work will do. If anyone can point me towards new or used I'd be grateful.

next year I'll try Jason S's comparison of my 10-80 versus the 101 ;)

If we would know where you are at then we could point you to places that would have used coulters. I know of one place in western Ohio that would have some that would work. $50 and up for them per piece.
 
Just found his information. Skillings Tractor Parts, 4100 Dialton Rd., North Hampton, Oh 45349-0186, Box 186, 937-964-1486. He is a one man operation but last spring he had quite a few coulters, both older and newer styles. North Hampton is Located if you take I75 north from Dayton to St. Rt. 41 East at Troy, Oh., Cross St. RT 235, cross 3 cross roads, next is a T road to north, this is Dialton Rd., he is just a couple of hundred feet up on east side. If you stop in take your phone to call him as he may be back in the yard. Been there many a time. Am just up the road at Wapakoneta.
 
I have a set of coulters that are either off of a 101 or the model right before it. They were sold to me by a dealer as Massey coulters but they aren"t. I have compared them to the coulters on the Ford plows and these have the same stem and same clamp at the bottom that keeps the coulter from turning. I have no use for them as I found a set of Ferguson coulters. I can post a pic of them if you are interested.
