I"m looking for a cheap belt drive sawmill that I can run off an IH Farmall H. Any ideas? Plans would work too.

What part of the country are you in ? I'm in central NY. Have a 1950's PTO driven M 14, Bell-Saw. Then I bought a Wood-Mizer LT 40 HDY band saw. So I don't really have a need for the Bell-Saw. It's all dismantled and sitting on a pallet, weight's less than 1000 lbs and would easily fit in a pickup. Not sure what it's worth, one on saw mill exchange for $ 3,200 but would sell this one for a lot less. If any one is interested or could give me a value please feel free to do so. Thanks

I do not know what type of mill you would find that you could do that with. About the smallest circular saw mill required at least 40 hp and your tractor is rated at 27 hp. Might be able to if you find a small enough unit cut timber up to 10" in diameter. The saw mills took a lot of power and the biggest Huber tractor made was a favorite to run mills with. It would have been a 4+ plowtractor and yours is only a 2 plow tractor. If you could find a band saw unit that you could hook the tractor to thenyou could possibly handle it as they are designed for I think a large 2 cylinder garden tractor type of engine but then they run 3 times your belt pully speed.

Jo, a complete Belsaw on a trailer frame was for sale up here in St Law Co. for $400.00 a few weeks back. I was broke or I'd have snapped it up.

As I said it is sitting on a pallet. It is a steel frame with angle iron rails that set on a wooden platform. You would need to build a new platform. The old one wasn't worth trying to save. Search, Belsaw Machinery Co. - Publication Reprints - M-14 Sawmill , online for a free PDF Operators Manual and repair parts list. Mean while I will take some pictures.
