Looking for the old style crimper or crusher. Have a drum mower and have a small patch(5ac. just planted)of alfalfa that I would like to use it on. Anybody know of any in the Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio area. Thanks Gregg

Best bet is to watch craigslist, auctions, etc... If you're patient, you can find one, and usually you can find a deal.

If you need one now, well that's a whole nother ball o wax.

What's the brand of drum mower? I've just put one season on my SFI 2555 and really like it so far. I'm still sorting out adjustment of the top link, so as to get the right cutting height. I only have 1-1/4 AC. so I don't get all that much hay. I planted alfalfa this fall so I'll see if I can increase my production. bjr

(quoted from post at 20:48:28 10/30/13) Gregg, I have an old NH 404 crusher that I could part with. Where are you located? The machine is in SE IN.

I have a drum also and next year plan on planting thick stemmed sorghum/sudan hay. I drove around the "hood" and found a farm with a lot of worn out equipment. Stopped by and started asking questions and sure nuf, came up with an IH 404 crimper. Tractor supply had the sprocket and chain I needed and with that and some heavy duty chain lube and a tensioner spring TSC also had, I have one in perfect shape.
