Oliver Plowmaster 100

This is a Rooster comb trip plow on rubber.

The right wheel had some play in it so I removed the bearing cup thinking there was a bearing in there. I was wrong, there are not bearings on the wheel!
The outside has a cam with several slots that can be used to adjust tension, next was a large ring that presses against the wheel hub.
On the back side is a cup with a bolt that goes in a counter sunk hole to lock the cup in place. However with this in place, and with the cam in the correct position I have 1" of play! So I must be missing something as the P.O. used the rear cup to slide in further than the correct position and locked the bolt down on the axle. Does anyone have a diagram?
I can't imagine why they didn't use a bearing. Unless they packed it full of grease you had metal on metal wear.

That is normal, you were supposed to use a grease gun on all fittings 2 or 3 times a day depending on how long the day was. Should not have that much wear if it was taken care of. You bight be able to put in some machinery bushing washers to take up some of the play. And that is also the dorm on things like that.

I wondered the same thing on mine when I took it apart. I ended up doing as a previous poster mentioned and turned down a machinery bushing to fit. It may not be factory but it works.
