NH 1411 discbine opinions

My 411 discbine gearbox broke. It quit driving the blades. I brough a 1411 home to try out. What do you all think about the 1411? Is it a better machine than the 411. I noticed that they are build quite a bit different. Thanks for your thoughts.

I THINK it was a 1411 that I bought. Bought it back in 94,was supposed to be 2 years old,was traded in on a new Hesston 12 foot hydraswing disc type. That was a while ago,so my memory about the number on it is foggy.

Regardless,I had the same problem. I used it for about an hour and a half and it was making so much noise I couldn't run it anymore. I took it back,they took it apart and said there was a bearing out in the shaft that goes down from the PTO gearbox to the cutterbar. Said it tore up the shaft,they'd fix it,no charge. Got it back 10 days later,used it five times,it got louder every time. Finally went to crap. I could turn the disc on the outside end and it would turn all of them but the first one on the inside. Apparently the gears were torn up in the cutterbar too. I ended up with a new Hesston conventional for what I'd paid for that one,even trade. I've got no interest in ever having another New Holland discbine. Hesston maybe.

1411's are a good machine.
Your 411 may have simply shelled out the flex coupler between the bevel gearbox and the cutterbar. If everything turns smoothly and quietly with no drive, it's a pretty good possibility.

what are you going to do with the 411 if your close might be interested in it to use for parts

The 1411 is much better than the 411. About the only thing the same is the paint.I have a 411 and my dealer says that the first problem I have to junk it and get a 1411.My dealer says NH did not build the cutterbar for the 411 but NH does make all the 1411 parts.The 411 was NH first discbine.In my area almost everyone has a 1411 or a 1431.I have been told a Deere the same size pulls much harder and most of the Deere machines have impellers which do not impress me.
