I have a Ford 601 series, component number 16-65, serial number 5130 1 row mounted corn picker. Anyone know how old it is? Thanks; Dave

Hi Dave, I cannot find the yr. They were first
sold in 1955 and shown thru '72(surprisingly)This
info comes from Official Tractor. Chuck

It is red without the raised outer side on the header and I am thinking it might be the first year. I have not seen any others without the raised side on the outside edge of header. My Ford dealer said 1954 was the first year for the 16-65 but could not find serial number reference chart. Thanks

My grandfather bought one new in 1955 which had the raised side. The neighbor bought his new in 1954 (seeing it work that fall is the reason Grandpa bought one). Eventually the neighbor's picker ended up here for parts when I was a kid. It did not have the raised side.

Thanks for all the responses and your comments Tim, that explains the header. I have it mounted on a 1954 NAA. I will find out if the lower side is a problem this fall when picking. The only worn item is the round belt running the inside gathering chains. Thanks
