John Deere 290 Planter

Can some tell me where to find the Serial No. on a John Deere 290 Planter? We believe it is earlier than a 1953 but we are unsure. Thank you in advance for your help.

It may not have.They say it is stamped in the frame on the right hand side but I have 4 of them setting here and no sign on any that there ever was an atempt to stamp it in where they say it should be. Best way to determine age is to go to Deeres site on parts books and bring up 290 and just look for things that are the same as yours or that are different.
