Has anyone ever seen a tool that you clamp the whole knife in and you have a slide that you can move each section to the grinding wheel. The whole thing is about 8 ft long ang 4 ft tall.

We had one with a v shaped stone. Our wild hay required sharp sickles once or twice a day. My brother might still have it.

Yes in its hay day the CYCLE KNIFE, many dealer ships had one, same as the FLOOR mounted RIVET machines, most are gone today in effect so are the DEALERS. Lots of luck in finding one.

In this part of the country, Shadel, made a sharpener like that. I think it used a cone shaped grinder wheel, and you rotated the head of the machine, to sharpen both sides. Did all of one side first, then rotated the head, and came back down the other side.
I own one with a neighbor, but haven't seen it in 4 or 5 years.

seen them, don't have any use them, 4 1/2 inch Makita is alot faster and easier, it took a little skill to properly dress the stone and operate them

I've seen them at shows only. I've also seen the grind stones available for any grinder. Don't know if they still make them.

The Shadel works very well and used machines bring lots of bidders at auctions. But where do you buy smooth or under-serrated sections anymore? Most manufacturers have discontinued them for the un-sharpenable over-serrated sections.
