Massey planter plates

Hey everyone, I'm looking at purchasing a MF 2 row planter. I believe it's a model 39? It has oval shaped seed hoppers, and from what I have read, these have edge drop plates. Can anyone confirm this, and is there a good source for plates. I know Lincoln has 1 plate and blanks to DIY. I'm hoping to find some used ones if available.

Dad has one of these planters. I saw 2 plates on ebay last year go for about $100. I have an old IH planter plates on ebay about $5. There are some good advantages with you planter, like seed placement. Now might be a good time to look at ebay,not many people thinking about plates I would think. good luck and God Bless

Thats what steered me away from an older planter that wasn't an IH or a Deere. The plate availabilty. The two I mentioned are a dime a dozen and easy to get. I'm not so sure about a Massey Planter.

Thanks guys, Im going to try to find a good used IH 256, 290 etc... I had a 4 row 56 and loved the way it planted. There is a machine shop near me that sells plates for $4.00 ea. That won't break the bank, nor do I have to DIY the blanks I'd need.
