Tractor hp to planter size?

I know I can pull a jd 7000 6 row with liquid fert with no problem with my oliver 1850. I know a guy who pulls s white 8row with a 1755 (84) hp. My ground is all flat in central IN. How much tractor hp to pull an 8 row or a 12row? Would a
JD 4430 (125hp) pull a 12row?

Yes the boys pull a 12 row no till planter with a 4440, They pulled it with their 4430 no problem then the 4430 got put on sprayer duty.

I pull a Black Machine 12 row with liquid fert. behind a 85 P.T.O. horsepower F.W.A. tractor.

It is a load, but can pull it at 5 M.P.H. when no-tilling. I only have 3 miles of road travel between farms, but that is the scary part. I plan things so the planter is nearly empty for road travel and don't go more than 10-12 M.P.H. or things can get squirrelly when stopping.

4430 on a 12 row should not be a problem. Inlaws pulled an 8RN dry fert. conventional planter on gently rolling ground here with a 2130 Deere(66hp)

I pull/carry a 6 row mounted planter on a Super M.The planter has Duckfeet,furrowers.....The 'ole super' has no problem.Your 4430 will be fine

If you need to plant 4000 acres, you need to keep your speed up. If you are just looking to plant a little farm, you can drive slower, do a better job, and will have plenty of hp to get the planting done.

It does start to be a problem controlling a bigger planter on the road, takes some real weight for you to not feel like a tail wagging the dog with a fully outfitted 12 row folded up going down the highway. Probably much more of a concern than actually in the field at that point.

Friend of mine runs a 8 row 7000 with a 7 row 7100 behind it for 15 inch beans. No fertilizer, but pulls the rig with a JD 4020.
