longer tails on a knot

I have adjusted my knotters on my 570 NH baler to try and get a little longer tail, changed the billhook to a plastic one and I am using plastic twine, how can I make them a little longer? Thought about shimming the knife closer to the twine disc, will this work?

I am having the same issue on a 327 John Deere. The tail is short on the flywheel side and it will sometimes slip the knot once it comes out of the chamber. I bent the wiper arm away from the twine disks, this seemed to work for a few bales but goes right back to doing the same thing, even with moving the arm. I' about frustrated with this baler.

There is a part you can bolt onto the knife NH sells. It makes the twine ride up to the tip of the knife before it gets cut leaving longer tails on the knot. The part number is 612244.

Make sure your needles are adjusted properly and are making the full stroke coming up to the top of the knotter. Needle could have slipped or the linkage could be worn. Had the same problem with a JD 348.

Thanks retired, backing the tension off on the twine disks seems to have done the trick. I finally got to try the baler out today, worked good.
