Need to know what setting for oats at 100# per acre. Also, which notch to use on the engagement levers for 1 1/2 inch deep. If any one knows where I can get a manual, it would be greatly appreciated.

Cant help on the 'setting'.There is no 'magic' notch for depth.Kind of a crapshoot.Just set it in the middle and see what happens,'adjust' accordingly.Get your manual from JohnDeere....Jensales is another scource.

Thanks for the reply Deltared, but neither one of those places have the manual and I also checked with www.manual.us too. On the setting adjustment next to oats is 50 and then another letter or number I can"t make out. I was wondering if it meant 50# and set the rate at the number 2 setting to get 100# per acre. Any way, still looking for a manual.

I don't think they are rated for pounds but rated for quarts as 4 quarts per gallon and forget off top of my head how many quarts in a peck or quarts per bushel and they were figured at the legal test weight of oats at 32 pounds per bushel but good clean oats for seed will easily run 40 pounds per bushel so as well as the quart setting get that bushel test weight.

No book is odd...I recently ordered a new reprint book for my old JD 'B' drill.JD is supposed to have available(so they claim) all books for their older equipment.

The book for a B or FB, FB being the fertilizer box version of the B, drill would get you close, the parts inside that feed would be designed to run at the same speeds-settings but the gearing for speed difference from the large steel wheel on yours to the small rubber tire on the others id made up with the drive chain off the wheel on the low wheel drill that the high wheel drill does not use. The only difference would be fluted feed or double run.

I think a FB isn't a fertilizer version of the B because FB had odd number of openers except for the 2 largest sizes while all B models had even number of openers

Well the FB is a fertlizer drill and the b does not have the fertilizer box so could be some differences there but as long as they have the same type of feeding system the settings should be a good start for him.
