NEW HOLLAND 273 OR 276???

I have never owned a bailer, just hauled A LOT OF HAY, someone has both a NH273 and a NH276. I have read some of the forums for both. If both bailers were in equal shape and field ready, which one would you buy, to bail triticale, and, what would be a fair price to pay for either one as the 276 is priced higher.

Both are good balers, however the 276 is a higher capacity baler built slightly heavier in the frame, axle, plunger, and other components. Can't address price without seeing balers and knowing what the local market will bear.

The NH 276 is a far better baler than the NH 273. I have owned both. The NH 273 is a good lower capacity baler. The NH 276 will eat that NH 273 in bales per hour.

I am currently using a NH 276. I also bought a backup NH 276. That baler has done less than 20,000 bales in its life. I gave $4500 for it one year ago.

The farmer I worked for in high school had a 276. Nice high capacity baler. I run a 316 that I gave $2,500 for 5 years ago. Took about $300 worth of tinkering, but it's been a good baler

I have 3 276's, one parts, one I use, one for future use, like JD, picked one up this spring, approximately 15,000 bales in it's lifetime, paid almost $4k for it. Obviously i also like the 276, If i only had a very small quantity of hay to do and the price was right I would likely go with the smaller one. Either one will be good if it has been taken care of.

Thanks, both balers are supposed to be in good shape, and were used this year. The 273 is priced at $3,400 and the 276 at $3,900. So given the 276 is a little heavier sounds like it should be the better buy.

Depending upon actual condition, I would offer $3,500 on the 276, unless it is in really good shape, that is a fair price.

Yes, from what I can determine, from all the comments, I would start at $3000.00 and close in the middle. Thanks I do appreciate the comments....
