Twine Disc going out of time?

Why would my twine disc keeping going out of time?
could a worn out twine holder spring cause any
problem in this issue.

A worn twine disc pinion and/or too much knotter stack endplay can give you a false sense of having the disc in time if you don't counter-rotate the disc when the adjustment is finished to allow for all the backlash.
Additionally, the taper inside the worm gear or the taper on the Short worm gear shaft can have imperfections that keep the gear from staying fixed on the shaft.

Hey thanks Rick, what is knotter stack end play? worn gear sounds reasonable, the baler is now 8 years old and has about 200 bales through it, I am wondering if I should buy new knotters instead of new parts for the knotters at this point.

When not rotating the twine disk should be about 1/8 inch to the right of the edge of the twine holder that rides in the slot(s) in the twine disk. Needle should lay the next twine right in the slot in the twine disk. On my baler the nut on the bottom of the shaft which the worm gear is, can be loosened and the worm repositioned. Friction fit, so worm may well have drifted in position. This would change the position of the twine disk.

Knotter stack endplay is extra clearance between the knotter frames and knotter cam gears.
200 bales? 200,000 bales might be time to think about knotters unless thay haven't been greased.
