what model planter is this

a friend of mine gave me this planter and i wondered exactly what model it is thanks in advance this is the best place to get info

494A, not 394. 494 used a pipe in front to mount fert openers. They"d rotate on the pipe when hitting rocks. 494A had the diamond tube.
 
Looks like what we had back in the day. 494A Deere. We had two of them, both six row. Yours has duals, ours had singles with 20 inch rims with chevron grip tires. Also your packer wheels are smooth rubber. Ours had chevron grip on them as well. Neat old planter.

a guy gave me one like it once.

I was lucky and found another guy that wanted it and trade even for this little two row planter with 25 B units.

If on a 494 you had trouble with units rotating then you did not have the complete unit as if you did they would not rotate.
 
Looks like a modified 494A as I have never heard of one with dual wheels and with anythin smaller than 40" rows duals would not fit and they all had 15" wheels, some bigger models had 18" wheels but that was 6 or 8 row planters and then if they ran 4 wheels they were spaced out as in one wheel between each ror and not 2 wheels together. Currently have 3 of the 494 and one 494A planters here.
