Massey ferguson 165 (tranport disc connection to tractor)

I have IH 370 12' tranport disc and I'm looking for information on how to correctly connect to tractor. Do I need to connect drawbar? The tranport disk is not a 3point ! Any information would be appreciated!
Cheers!

Hitch pin in a non-movable drawbar. If your tractor does not have a drawbar you can use one of those bars that goes across the 3pt arms if you make them rigid so they can't move up and down and are at the correct height. Our ford jubilee had that type, it had 2 braces that went from the 3rd arm hook to the draft arms and a second v shaped piece that went from center out and back to the lift arms to hold it rigid from side to side.

connect via hitch pin to a real draw bar. I can't see a 165 size tractor having the proper hitch stays available to use a "should be banned" 3pt draw bar.

Thanks for your information ! For my own information when
you refer to "real drawbar" ! Please clarify . This is my first go
around with using this implement!

I think the point will be moot when he drops the disc on the ground... A 3/8" grade 70 chain run under the 165 and attached to the tractor that will pull it might be more appropriate :)

A housing mounted swinging drawbar that can be fixed in the center position would be helpful if he wants to try it tho.

"real draw bar" would be the swinging one that attaches to the underside of the tractor, not the 3pt arms.

Post a pic of the back of your tractor...

And yes, a 12 foot 370 might be a wee bit of a load for a 165.

I do have that draw bar on the 165 I just wanted to make sure I understood what you referred to! Ok with that being said its time to get down to business! I took the advice of others in regards of the IH 370 disk ! Time to get it at let ya know how it goes. Thanks again,

Is a 370 that much heavier than a 37 that I thought the 370 replaced. and a 37 would be a decent match for that tractor.

12' is a lot of disc for that tractor if you get in loose ground or let the disc dig in... Traction would be the biggest limitation with power being a very close second. It's only a 50 horse tractor. If it's got enough tire to get hooked to the ground good in third gear it'll probably get around OK.

If it is anything like the 37 in weight that I had only in a 9' model as a 12' it would not be bad for that tractor as I also had a 13' Kewanee disk and I pulled them with the same size Fords as that tractor is with no problems. My Fords had the 38" wheels with duals though, do not know if he has the 28" or 38" tires or if he has duals.

The 165 has 38" tires no duals, this tractor should handle the 12' disk, I will keep you posted, now it's off to work on getting the remote hydraulics to work!!! Whoopieee

We used to drag a 10' IH 37 behind a Ford 5610 that has 10 hp on the 165. It worked it hard at 4.5 mph in loose ground. If you're just dragging it around on hard ground... that's a different thing entirely... but buried to gang bolts... I don't think the 165 is going to do much with 12' of disc... 38's or otherwise.
