46 McCormick Baler

Blades?you mean the knife on the plunger? sharpen it.Or the wire shear on the twister? That can also be 'sharpened'

That was my first baler, I got rid of it some years ago. As the old saying went.. "it was always something".

Actually the biggest problem I had was finding someone who knew how to work on them, most of the old timers were gone

Paull-

If you are referring to the twine knives on the knotter, you can get them at a Case/IH dealer yet. The old style twine knives had to be hand sharpened with a pocket hone. The new style comes with a replaceable razor blade, much better design. The newer style is available from the case/IH dealer for about $30 each for the whole assembly. You will need 1 assembly per knotter. Part# is 668961R21.

If you are referring to the plunger knife and stationary knife, these have to be taken out of the baler and sharpened by hand. 3 bolts hold each knife on. Hope this helps!

Paull-

Sorry, I did not read your post that your mccormick 46 was a WIRE baler, not twine. The knife numbers I gave you were for a twine baler. Sorry.
