JD 29-A pull type sprayer questions

I have an opportunity to purchase a JD 29-A pull type sprayer. Tank size is 100 gallons with a John Deere roller pump that is in overall good condition. The pump may need some TLC. Did not see any cracks or leaks in the tank and booms and nozzles are there also. The wheels appear they could be moved for row width purposes. Could anyone share any information regarding these units? Asking price is $500.00.

Sounds high to me. Those smaller pull type sprayers do not sell for much. The JD roller pump will not work with Roundup and a few other modern chemicals. They will corrode the inside and then scrap the rollers the next time you go to use it. That is why you see some pumps advertised for use with Roundup.

I have one and it does very well. The booms are sturdy and the gravity swing arrangement works better than the springs you see on newer units. I still have the original pump with mine. It says JD on it but it is really a DeLavel. I have been told that seals are no longer available from JD, but I have not checked with DeLavel, since mine is still in good shape. But you can easily upgrade the pump.

$500 for a 100 gallon sprayer and used pump is too high. I sure wouldn't pay that for it unless I just needed a little old sprayer to dink around with. Go build yourself a 55 gallon sprayer out of a plastic barrel and make it three point if all you're needing is a small sprayer.
