New Holland 717 choppers

Hello guys. In the past Ive used a plain 717 chopper with a one row corn head. I was wondering what the difference is in the Super 717. Thank You!

There are generally more blades in the head, but the rest is pretty much the same. Some Farmalittles may pull some of them.....

I ran a two row head on a Super,pulled it with a 4040 Deere. I was in the hospital,my brother was running it one time. The main shaft in the knives snapped right off. Obviously running too much power on'em with too much head ain't a good plan.

Hi, IIRC the regular 717 had six knives and super had nine knives on the cutter head. Therefore more chopper capacity for same length of cut.

BTDT. It was cheaper to get a new (to me) S717 at the time. I had about a dozen over the years, last one was a 718. Just more knives...
