baler shear bolt

Have an Oliver 60-T that sheared the flywheel bolt. Apparently there is slop between the arm and the flywheel so the bolt peened over instead of a straight shear. Head sticks out about 3/16". Awkward small space to work in. Having an awful time trying to pry it out. The section on the flywheel side came out normally. Suggestions? Thanks.

Can you cut/grind the head off the bolt and drive it back through? An angle grinder will take that head off in a very quick time. Have had that problem with another brand of baler. Not fun. Make sure new boltis tight, and ckeck it often.

Put a wrench on the bolt head and a channel lock or vise grip pliers (not too tight) on the flared end and twist.

Thanks Rabbit. If you don't put a lock washer on and snug the new bolt up tight, the same thing will happen the next time it breaks.

Grinding, sawing, beating and a punch. Lot of cussing along the way....

We all been there.

I use lock nuts now, or double nut if I don't have a lock nut on my red baler.
