Unknown spreader

We pulled this old spreader out of the back pasture that we just bought. We are hoping to fix it up a little assuming we can determine the manufacturer. The inside paint color is red. Not exactly sure what is it designed to spread, seed, fertilizer, something else. It has some sort of auger or mixer inside and what looks like 2 inch holes at the bottom for something to drop out. There are hinged boards in front of the drop holes that look like it is designed to level out the soil before the material drops. The metal brackets are all cast with numbers for the various parts. e.g. B-141, B-142, B-148 etc. If anyone has an idea of what this tool might be, I'd appreciate it.

Wow, never saw anything that old, barely had granular fertilizer that long ago?

Would it be a lime drop spreader?

One or the other.

Paul

I"d go along with paul- lime, fertilizer. earliest one I remember from the mid 50s was on rubber tires.

Yes, an very old lime spreader. My guess it was made in the 1930 s. A somewhat common imp. in its time as I remember a few of them. clint

The spreader's cast pieces all have a part number on them that starts with a "B". The spreader also has yellow hinges.

Do you happen to know what manufacturer had red spreaders with yellow hinges in their paint scheme?

Thanks.
