Where could a person find 1 1 1/8" fine thread caste nut. I"ve checked tractor Supply and they said they don"t carry them. It"s for an International 6 foot bush hog. The castle nut holds on the bump guard and 2 blades.

Fasten all will have it. They won't be cheap.

Saw something that size in the small bits bins in menards, and the local Fleet & Farm stores when I was looking for a larger one, I know they had over an inch, was less than the 1-1/4 I needed, so would be worth checking.

Check an auto parts store. They usually have a small supply of various sizes on hand.

Truck/trailer and heavy equipment parts suppliers would be another place to look.

CIH should still have them available. Same idea on pricing as Fastenal.

Did you try to order one through the CIH dealer?????

Since you did not post the model # of the rotary cutter, we can"t look it up on the consumer CIH parts site, but going by the size, and searching by "part specs" on the DEERE site:

Part #14H848...

Diameter 1.125 IN
Thread 12
Thickness 0.999 IN
Across Flats 1.688 IN
See Sketch 0.625 IN
Slot Width 0.285 IN

It"ll cost you about eight bucks if you get them to order it on a stock order so they don"t stick you with the freight.

lastly. if you can find the nut in non castle version.. a few minutes with a thin 1/16" cutoff wheel on a die grinder and perhaps dressing with a file and then a thread chase will do the job.

I've made tie rod end pin nuts that way in a pinch after one hit the dirt..e tc.. not ideal.. but DOES work. :)

(quoted from post at 21:51:12 06/20/13) Try Mcmaster- Carr. Loads cheaper than fastenall, most of the time.

Yep, I concur! SWELL idea, 'cept Mcmaster doesn't show a 1.125" NF castle nut!

Alamo uses a 1-1/8" fine thread slotted hex nut with a cotter pin hole drilled for the blade bolt on their boom mowers. If you don"t have any luck finding one you can call me @ four 0 seven four six six 4232. I usually have them in stock.
