New Holland 311 Rust

Just looked at a NH311 square baler that had lived an outdoor life. Lots of areas rusted through on sheet metal. Plunger track on bottom knife side was loose? Probably most notably and worringly in the knotter area structure by the hooks. It tied fine for the few bales I ran. Fingers also banged around a lot too. Lots of play in the tracks. Rusty bale chamber that would probably need Bale Skiis. Needed a tire soon and I"m sure I could sink $500 in just bearings and odds real quick. He was asking $3250, said he"d take my offer of $2500 but my knees tell me that"s still too much. Any thoughts from you guys?

That's a 5-800 buck baler. Needs well over 1K worth of work to bale based on what you describe.

Well he is wanting to sell you a $1000-1200 baler for double what it is worth. I would entertain a $2500 offer too. LOL!!!!

A small square baler can be the most aggravating machine ever made to run if it is not working correctly. I would NEVER consider one that had set out enough to be rusted out. It is a money pit waiting for a new home.

Keep looking. For $2500-3000 you can find a GOOD machine. You just need to shop more.

I think the price of scrap if you would take the last 0 off your 2500$ figure you would get $250 and that would be about right as that is the only thing that baler is good for, if rusted thru in any place the whole baler is rused too far for even parts.
