looking at a New Holland 276 wire tie square baler. How do they compare with a Massey Fergusson model 12? The 276 is in fine shape, I currently bale with the Massey 12 string tie. I prefer wire and i have had trouble getting the Massey to make uniform bales in certain hay conditions.

Salesman told my grandfather with a good windrow and enough horse, you can keep a bale in the air at all times. He proved it with the 786 the day my uncle's in-laws' baler broke, and they wanted to stack the wagons in the field, with rain coming, and grandpa had hay down, too.

I remember in the sixties the ten year old son of the farmer that I worked for would pull their twelve very fast. probably 5-6 MPH and I don't recall it ever missing. this was often July grass first cut hay too so it would have been heavy. I have an MF 224 now and it will take heavy windrows better than the JD 336 that I had.
