vermeer 605 g baler

I would put Vermeer near if not top of the list of best balers. I've got a JD now and it's not the baler my old Vermeer 605G The worst thing I can say about the Vermeer is that sometimes it was hard to bale hay if it wasn't dry enough. That doesn't sound like a bad price from the pictures.

if it bales as good as it looks i'm surprised it aint sold already...thats a very good price if it runs good...makes a 5x6 bale...should hit your target weight or more easy enough.

The G is as old as the F baler The G baler uses springs for the bale tension in making the bale where the F uses a hydraulic cylinders to tighten the belts. the g will probably make a good tight bale 1000 to 1200 lbs. depending on hay the main thing is the belts if they are in good shape to make a good bale

I have a 504G which is the 4x5 version of the baler. They make a very tight bale. The only thing to watch for is make sure the bearings on the pickup are in good shape. They tend to not get greased because they are a little hard to get to, and rebuilding the pickup on one is expensive. I got lucky when I got mine and somebody had changed the twine box to the later one that holds 3 balls of twine and mounts up higher. I never did care for the round can and dropping it down in there myself. Your 4010 should run it just fine.

That looks like a nice baler at a decent price. Sure would be tempting and that 4010 will play with it.

I bought the baler today. got it home rolled out a bale and tried it out, works great. Can' wait for haying season. I paid 1700, gave me a owners manual and on the first page he had written the price he paid (1500) and the original owners name. I guess he made 200 dollars.

good stuff...

Make sure you go thru the manual and find EVERY grease zerk. And don't be stingy with the grease. I re-grease mine every 10 hours or so.

Be very careful when dumping the bale to insure you are well away from the gate when you close it. If you bend the gate it is a serious problem to get it corrected. Many who bend the gate can never get it back in line and junk the baler. I have had some rolls roll back toward the baler even though I thought I was far enough away. Take your time and make sure you are clear.
