planter plate size

got some seed from my golden harvest dealer last night. it"s last years corn so was free. only planting 4 acres with my 494a deere 4 row. the number on the bag is 9138 3000GT L7. he was in the field so was not able to talk to him but his wifed helped me best she could. dont think they have ever used a plate planter (or a 4 row) so help me figure out what plates i need. i know it"s round seed but thats all i know. was hoping someone here would know what plates i need to look for.
thanks
Gary

I used a B1-24X for the round I planted last year and had good results. My seed was about a 1/4" in diameter. Hope that helps.

i looked up the lincoln ag supply site and found the B1 but what is better, just lay the seed in the plate and see if most of them fit, or take a handful and actually measure each one?

Gary,

Most of those numbers are "company gobbledegook", but I suspect the L7 might be their code for seed size.

ASk that seed dealer for a Golden Harvest phone number, then ask them what it L7 means for plate info.

If they don"t know, buy from a seed dealer in your area who knows how to help you.

Some seed companies get too full of themselves and forget how to keep this info simple.

You find out the "real seed size" and I can help you with info on the exact plate you will need.
