John Deere 24T baler needles

Does anyone know of a good source for getting new needles for a John Deere 24T baler, the last set of needles I bought was about 1985. Been looking for a new set but having a hard time finding any.

checked with the JD dealer closest to me here but they seemed more concerned with selling me a new baler than looking up parts for my 24T. I'll check with the dealer down south of here maybe they can get some, I know other JD baler models used the same needles so you would think they wouldn't be so hard to come by.

Why are you replacing needles? Are they broke or worn out? Those needles are made of maleable iron and can be adjusted to original curvature in a press if they are just bent. I've also seen them welded/brazed after they were broken.

We took them to the dealer's shop and had them bend the needles to the same curvature as a new needle whenever the needles got bent - never did buy a new needle in all the years we had that baler.

the needles on the baler are still working but I have welded and built them up so many times they are getting a little brittle, if I can find a new set I want to replace them. Been using this baler for smaller fields since I bought it in 1985. I have a couple newer faster balers but the old 24T is still a good baler and would like to keep it in good shape as long as I can.

There is a set for sale on the Bemidji, MN craigslist website for $75 for the pair. There is a photo and a little more information provided. Says to call Kerry at 218-435-1861 for more information. Hope this may be of some help to you.
