freeing a stuck plunger in a 24 T baler

If its been sitting awhile, Its a rust issue. Your going to have to loosen the adjusting bolts on the rails then take a hammer and tap the frame under and around the rails to brake the rust loose. You may have to use a screw driver to get under the rails to help get the rust out. Once you get it all cleaned out and moving, Run it slow for 10 or 15 miniets and blow it out good with an air hose. Once its all cleaned and loose then readjust the rails for proper smooth operation. It can be a pain in the butt to do, Just take your time and use plenty of penetrating oil and read your manual to readjust the rails. Bandit
 
I bought a massey 10 that was stuck tight, I did everything that was previously mentioned and used a wooden fence post and a 10 pound hammer, that vibration helps to loosen it. Take your time and once you get it loose pour waste oil on it until its smooth. I have probably ran 5000 bales through mine since I got it to work.
 
Another option other than a hammer is to use a air impact hammer. The ones you get in the basic air tool kits work pretty good. Install the flat tip in the air hammer crank up the air pressure and bang away along the plunger rails. It's a little hard on the ears but eaiser than swinging a hammer. By the way soak down with a good penetrant first.

Rock the flywheel and see if it frees. If not, remove connecting rod at the bellcrank and then get a chain around the plunger head... tie it to something solid... and drive away.

I would suspect that what has happened... there is a big rust boil under the lower right guiderail in the bale chamber nearest the knife. This pushes the rail upwards and pinches the plunger in place. Force may be the only way it's going to move.

I had a 336 with rust under the rails. I had to pull the plunger head in order to remove the rails. There was a lot of rust under the rails pushing them up. Like bandit says you need to bang the rust to break it free and it will come out in big sheets. Two years ago a fellow on here was having this problem and he tried for two weeks to find a way to keep from pulling the plunger head. Then He finally did it and got on with it.
