Dearborn 10-16 Mismatched 2 Bottom Plow

I recently got a Dearborn 2 bottom 10-16 plow for $60. I think I did okay. But, it has one original slat bottom and one which is obviously a replacement. I think it is welded on (I'll look more closely when I get back to the farm this weekend).

Think it will work as it is? I suspect it was used a lot this way back in the day.

Any chance I can find a slat bottom somewhere?

I would think it would do a terrible job setup like it is. Plus you do not have a shear on the back bottom. Some one used it for a parts plow since it was used last. The plow is not usable like it is. I would look for some complete plow bottoms to bolt on to this plow.

You did not get hurt as the plow would scrap for the $60.

believe it or not the front will work better than the back...the front moldboard is nothing but a piece of plate someone bent...it'll work but will wear quickly...whats left of the rear wont do anything but make a mess without the missing parts...looks like youre missing the share and the landside.

JD Seller is 100% correct...Plus that front
'moldboard' is not a moldboard at all.It is just a
couple pieces of flat iron welded on too replace a
missing moldboard.Bbesides doing a crappy job,I'll
bet it will pull "hard" and have a lot of side
draft. But hey, hook it up and try it and find out! Steve

Well, that's why I said I needed some parts - one that's not right and one that's not complete.

So, anyone have a good source?

Thanks.

I first saw the heading, reading 10-16 I thought, Dang what did they think would ever pull that,. Like I would say I have 2 1-16s, 2 2-14s, and a 3-14 plows.

Looking at the photo 3 of the plow, I think that is a 12" plow and only needs a share. Reason for this is the 12" used 2 bolts and there is no attach area for a shin. The 12" plows did not use the shins. Finding a share is gong to be a problem. They are hard to find if you can find one and I only found one for my plow. It was a rusted NOS. Last one the guy had...You could try a equipment salvage yard and get one off a salvaged plow. Same share as the AO-28-12 Ferguson plow.
Good luck
Tom
