John Deere 4B Plow.

I hope some of you remember responding to my plow problems last week, the plow digging in. I have semi successfully plowed my garden. We went to the barn and hooked up the plow, and my wife showed me the pictures and read instructions while I set up the plow. It did pretty well. Mistakes-- I figured plowing would clean the old grease off the moldboards. Wrong, I had to stop and clean, and scrape the dirt off. Next question, I looked at the pictures that Chris posted and his plow sits level when out of the ground and mine does a tail drag. To be precise, When I go around for the next pass, The back corner of the rear bottom cuts a little groove in the grass. How do I adjust that out? Thanks, Ellis

Remember I said your drawbar was a bit high, that is what makes it do what you are having. That is the length of the rod that goes down to the toung and carries it and when you get things set for length that the tail wheel rides corectly then with it in a raised position then with a heigher drawbar it may not be the correct length. With enough fiddling you might get it adjusted. I am typeing this from a motel in Lawrenceburg In. right now.

Heck , Ellis, you have the major hurdle overcome allready in that you have a wife willing to help you out with this "hobby". Sounds like you have a handle on it now. You will eventually understand the working theory behind everything on the plow and when you do you will be able to adjust for all conditions in a jiffy. Post some pics when you get it just right for us to see. They do a great job of plowing once set. RB
