New Idea Easy Flow

Red,
I just bought a 12ft. John Deere that looks to be identical to the Easy Flow. I don"t have a manual yet, so I am looking for the same info as you. I want to spread dry fine Ag lime. Where do I set it for a ton per acre at 5mph?

mike,
I have a new idea 12 ft spreader.

I do not have the spreader rates, but I have used mine to spread lime before.

it worked very well, but you do not want to load it very deep as lime is very heavy. also the lime works best if its dry

you want to wash and oil the spreader after lime use.

Get in touch with the Coldwater Historical Socity at Coldwater, Ohio. They have everything that is left from the New Idea factory and should have that information. If the EPA ever gets around to doing what they should do there will be a New Idea museum in there but as of now because of the paint in the building from it being used as a factory they will not allow its use. They think the paint that makes it what it should be needs all removed for public safty. Also go there for any operators or repair manuals.

Thanks... this is good to know. I have heard of guys having some issues with lime bridge inside and having to poke at it to get it to feed. Hence why I will pay a little more for crushed fine lime than the rec-mix. I just hope I am not on and off the tractor seat a million times. I guess I will go by trial and error and go from there until I get my manual.

I have a manual with chart for an Ezee-Flow spreader,I think? New Idea bought out Ezee-Flow,so chart should be the same.Maybe some of the guys can confirm this??

Some of the litature that was printed for E Z Flo spreaders had the charts in them , no idea as to why. I do not know if I have any lit left. clint

Did you ever get the chart that you wanted? If not send me an email or phone number. I have a chart and more info on an ezee flow 8-10-12 ft drop spreader.

Wanted to follow up on the spreader... I put 4 ton of lime down yesterday and it worked great. The lime has the consistancy of baby powder and feeds with no problems. My rate is about 2 ton per acre, which is good for this ground as it has not seen lime in 8 years. I am going to put another 4 tons on this weekend, clean the spreader and start plowing.
