I"m going to look at a jd 1250 planter soon and wanted to know the good and bad. It"s a 6 row planter with I think finger pickups not plate style. No fertalizer. So what do you think is it a good or bad planter. He"s asking 400$

That sounds like a good deal if it fits your needs.

My understanding is their meter worked fine, donno if parts are available for them any more?

They didn't have the depth control 7000 and newer do, but were good planters.

Like paul says.....sort of an in-between planter....same "poor" depth control for planters for decades......when depth was controlled a couple feet behind the openers, not alongside like on the 7000., But finger units were a big advance for singulation of seeds. 7000 design was the planting revolution of the mid 70s, and since.

As I have said befor if you have the seed beed properly prepaired you will not have the ups and downs that the ones complaining about poor depth control must have had and if the field is level that press wheel out behind will keep the same depth as the opener with the depth built in.
