853 New Holland bale questions???

Somewhere in the 8 to 11 hundred pound range. I use about 35 to 40 psi in the air bags. If you use the air pressure in the upper range say 55 to 60 psi, heavier bales can be made but idler and chain/baler wear is increased dramatically. And less dense bales are much less prone to mold and dust. Pretty good old baler....Ron

Thanks,Ron,I had a guy tell me he had trouble getting 850 lb bales.I was hoping to make at least a 1000 lb bale.I suspect maybe that feller mighta been driving way too fast too. This one has the wide pickup with augers on it,bale command and net wrap.Im hoping it"ll work as nice as it looks. Thanks Again!

In addition, I rake a decent size windrow that feeds in well and doesn't drag under the hitch[about 12 to 14 feet of hay] and drive about 4 to 4 and a half mph. I drag 4 feet of old log chain under the tractor drawbar. 2 years ago I put about 2 grand into it, chains and all bearings except the wheels and the pick-up. Before you use it, put locknuts and loc-tite on the bolts holding the bars on the chain. Yeah, they're a dandy old baler. Good luck.....Ron
