Anyone still using IH 56 corn planter?

Hey all,

I just bought a pair of 56 corn planters and am going to pull the dry fertilizer boxes to mount on a cultivator for sidedressing. The planters themselves are actually in nice shape and I hate to haul them to "the yard". Any chance there's enough guys still using them that I could part them, or would it just be a waste of time?

There are parts of them that also fit older planters of what I am just now trying to find parts for that I am going to have to get the parts ordered for this week. I need the disk seed openers, blades and hubs. Always good to have the seed box parts.

If you have the room, I would strip them down and store the parts. Never know when someone will need parts. Got a some of the parts from my old 56 planter sitting in the shed. Also waiting to get my dad"s 56 planter. He bought it new and is in great shape. Might just do a cleanup and good waxing and it should look almost new.

Parts of them fit the unit planters - 185, 295, etc that are powered by the press wheel. (IHC version of the JD 71....) I could use a few good plate mechanisms, with a good knockoff wheel....

The seed hoppers and any other should be worth something.

There are also some parts in common with a 400 - the opener disks, at least.

Won't make you rich, but you could come out better than cutting up for scrap I'd think.

I just purchased a IH 56 4roll planter and need the fertilizer
boxes for it. If yours would fit I would be interested.
