Harrowgator won't lift

I bought at harrow gator that had a bent middle pipe that the
hydraulic cylinder attaches to. I made a new one out of square
tubing. Now the cylinder is back on but won't lift it has a john
Deere cylinder. It just wants to pull or push on the hitch instead
of pull or push the back tires up and down to raise or lower it. I
tried switching the cylinder around and even upside down still
nothing. It won't lift level hardly does anything

The cylinder needs to attach to the bracket on the axle pivot. The way you have it set up, its just pushing against itself. If you jack the harrow up with a lift you will see where it needs attach to.

That's a real nice job, but you need to start over. The part that the rod end of the cylinder is attached to needs to be a telescope, with the movable end bolted to that clevis on the axle. The stationary end is attached just as you have it now. You are also missing the diagonal braces, which have numerous holes punched in them for adjusting the pitch. It is necessary in trashy fields to tilt the front up, in order to let the trash out. Otherwise it just becomes a bulldozer. For maximum pulverization in clean tillage, the implement is allowed to lay flat.

I like your picture but i do not think that will ever work the cylinder is pushing nothing but on your welded piece which is pinned to your base side of your cylinder I really think you are playing just to see what people put

You made it wrong. Look close at the picture I posted. The front piece is a guide that slides into the rear piece that the cylinder pushes back wards and it rotates the rear axle. The two pieces telescope with the rear pipe sliding over the smaller pipe/yoke in the front.

Also your harrow is a Dunham Lear not a true Underferth Harrowgator. The major difference is on how they control the level/angle of the front hitch. If you look at yours there is a bracket welded to the front hitch where it pivots. Then there is a wedge shaped bracket that adjusts to let you change the angle. This system did not work very well. As you can see yours is bent like just about every other one I ever saw.

Now if you look at the picture of the Underferth Harrowgator, you will see the two adjust able angle braces that run from the hydraulic cylinder mount to the frame of the unit. These will slide inside them selves when lifted up all the way. Then when you lower the harrow they hit the stop pin that allows you to adjust the tilt/angle of the entire unit.

In ground that has trash or clumps of grass you run it with the front held up higher than the back. This will let the trash/clumps work themselves through the harrow. Then in clean worked ground you can level it out for maximum leveling.

Your first try can be reused if you find a piece of pipe/rod that will slide in the square tube you have. If you find a piece then all you need to do is cut the current one right in front of the cylinder mount. The weld the sliding piece to the front yoke you already have. Then drill a hole in the square tube to hook it to the rear lift wheel rock shaft.

Hey that makes sense that's why the old pipe that was on it didn't work either. Ill make a new one this weekend. Thanks guys
