snowblower update

The last time I blew snow I watched the entire time to see what might be happening. So of course, nothing happened and I blew the entire driveway out... The key did walk out a bit at one point, but I was able to notice it before it flew out and avoided shearing the bolt.
I think I was also more careful to lift the blower only as high as necessary, instead of just pulling the hitch lever to max and driving away.
When warmer months come I think I'll weld that key in there - hoping that will fix most of my problems.

thanks for the input a few weeks back everyone,
Jay

Rather than weld the key just Loctite the entire thing to the shaft. I used it all of the time to hold the wheel wedges in older IH tractors. Had a wheel come off the IH 1466 and it made a real mess. So I loctited the wedges. That stopped the problem.

Plus if you loctite it if you need it apart you just have to heat it up and it will come back apart. Much better than welding it.

locktite!great idea.I shall remember that.Something I have done is to place a hoseclamp on the shaft next to the key. That is often enough to keep the key in place.

Yes loctite: better option than welding. Currently I've got an old piece of hack saw blade that I cut to size with tin snips wedged tight keep the key in place.
I figure one or two more snowfalls and then I can let nature just do its thing.
