Looking at a 12 ft black gang Jd 210 disc to pull behind my 6420. Is this a good disc and does anyone know what it weighs? No rocks in fields. Cutting sod to reseed.

Is it the double offset design or something else
that causes this model to wiggle? The reason I'm
curious is that many short line disks - Sunflower,
Krause, Landoll - are of this design and they are
very popular in our area. (Of course, part of their
popularity here might be due to their "made in
Kansas" nature . . .) My FIL recently bought a very
heavy Baker double offset (an older used one, not
the odd "double diamond" version they had latter)
and it works great in tough gumbo.

I have a JD 111 black gang disc 12 ft. I pull with a John deere 2555 mfwd without any problems, you may have to double disc sod, this disc is not that heavy, but you can bolt a couple tractor weights on it to help keep it down. Also make sure it"s adjusted right. You may need a couple big pipe wrenchs, to turn the level adjustment located in middle front, I think you can also switch gang angle on the 210 also, by moving the pins. Good luck

I owned a 210 & 310. Both would wiggle in hard ground. The 1635 in same type soil would not wiggle from side to side. I think JD phased out the double offset configuration on newer disc harrows.

Brady, the turnbuckle adjustment on the front of the disk is NOT the leveling adjustment. That is done with the nuts on the big spring toward the back of the disk. All the turnbuckle adjustment does is level the disk for transport. Once it's set, leave it alone. Mike

Jim, I have a 210 that I used to use a lot but now have a 630. Originally, all the Level-Action disks had a "70/30" configuration where the rear disks split the fronts in that percentage. Later, they had a "fix" that redrilled the locator pin in the rear gang that allowed for a "50/50" configuration, that is, the rear gangs split the fronts equally. I had my disk done this way and while it did a more level job in loose dirt it would not penetrate as well and also would do the "squirm". I put it back to 70/30 and it worked better from then on. You just had to be a little more careful to adjust a center ridge out of it. Not a big deal. Mike

Not JD's best product. The overlap configuration looks like a great improvement but it presented leveling issues and most farmers even those that wore green underware bought something else, usually an IH. But like any disk with enough passes it will cut anything up. Just plan on using a harrow/drag or some other implement to level it up.

Thanks Mike, I guess I use the turnbuckle for adjusting the level/pitch from front to back, setting the front gangs lower than the back, my 111 disc is very high (clearance) when lifted. I will have to take a look this spring....Brady
