I have a couple pictures of the Strawberry culivator. Its in the narrow setting, can be adjusted to about three feet wide.
In the south some people called them a gee-whizz, I don't know why. I wuz in the army with an ole boy from Liberty, Miss. and he said that is what they called them, he didn't know why either. He lived so fur south that if they went up to Jackson, Ms. they thought they were whey up north.

That is pretty neat. Thanks for the pics, really helps to visualize it. Looks like the cultivator would be very useful.
 
Granddad called that a spike tooth. They ran them in dry weather to keep the ground from cracking between the tobacco rows.
 
Liberty Ms is about an hour west of my moms family. Course her family was there from the mid 1800's we could be related to your buddy.
 
Its been over 50 years since I saw him. His back name was Watts, I forgot his front name, it might have been Dovis.
