looking at a brillion sst1201 seeder I see their is a adjusting bolt for the small seed its two large nuts that open or close the opening for rate of seed .The proplem is I cannot find the indicator on how much it is set to .their is a chart saying if is on 2 its putting out so many pounds of seed per acre but I cannot find the indicater any one help?

Should be a chart on the underside of the lid. The indicator is a combination of letters and numbers on the face of the outer of those two large nuts and on the flat of the 'bolt' that they thread onto.

Now I have a choice between one with hydrolic transport or manualy takeing the tires off how hard is it to remove the tires off and on ?

I ran one that I had to take the tires off until about 5 years ago. Not bad, if you have a ditch handy by every field... drop a tire in the ditch, pull one 3/8" bolt, and pull the wheel/hub/spindle out. But if the price and condition are close, go with the hyd. lift.

I have one with the hydraulic lift. Without it, you would have to double seed on turn areas.

I decided on the one without hydrolic lift it was a thousand dollars cheaper.I figure I can just drive on some 2x6 planks and remove the tires.I would not be using it every year anyway

The only Brillions I ever used had manual transport wheels. Not sure why you have to double seed anywhere so long as you can pull the clutch rope. Manual transport lets you seed a lot closer to field edges.

Best way to calibrate it is with a tarp under it, and the chain off. Fill the box with the seed you will be using. Rotate the shaft X number of times. Weigh the seed on the tarp. You know the diameter of the drive wheel, and the number of teeth on the sprockets. Do some math and you will soon find out what the actual rate you are seeding, in lbs/thousand square feet, or Acres.

Clutch? The old SS I used years ago I don't think even had a clutch... but if it's like everything else that was owned by that group at the time... it might have had a clutch when it was new.
Not a big deal either way. Bit of overlap isn't the end of the world.

That is the only real accurate way to set it. OFten times the variance in seed weight is enough to throw chart values way off anyhow. So... you an either weigh it or guestimate the opening with or without the chart.

I always set at rate on the chart.Set the throttle to run between 2-3 mph.The results speak for there self.
