#311 moldboard plow

I am looking a taking a #311 plow with a land wheel and removing a moldboard and turning it into a 2 bottom for my 300U.

This plow does not have the rear trailing wheel. First question, did all the 311's have a rear trailing wheel and is it necessary if I use plow as a 2 bottom?

Second question - does anyone see any reason why this set-up i am planning will not work?

I once bought a JD 3-pt plow for parts that had no tail wheel. But it had a very long landslide on the 3rd bottom. If this plow has the long land-slide it might work, but I never saw a 311 without a tail wheel. I was told you either need the tail wheel or the long landslide. I have a 311 plow and looks like you could take off the last bottom. I agree that a 300U will not pull a 311 plow. I did use my 311 and 300U to plow the garden, but it took our 400 to pull it in red clay ground. Al

The 211 and two 311s I have all have the solid steel tailwheel. I have not seen any without. The 309a 3pt doesn't have one but does have the long landslide.
