Calling any JD worker from the Ottumwa plant!!!! Rake help

I have a friend that is looking at a Gehl 414 bar rake. This rake is exactly like a JD 672 rake. I mean the frame and bar holders are exactly the same. I thought that JD built all of the bar rakes at Ottumwa. IS that wrong?? Did they have an outside supplier build them??? I can't see JD selling complete rakes to Gehl. I know they sold some bale throwers to NH at about this time.

Any of you have any ideas??? Here are some pictures to compare the two. The rake basket is the same on the two rakes. The only difference is the engagement control. The main frames are the same.

I wonder if Deere just sold their whole bar rake line to Gehl. These were the last of the JD bar rakes (evolved from 640 to 660 to 662). It doesn't look like Gehl ever improved on the design and didn't seem to make them for very long either.

Maybe somebody knows the whole story.

WE have 412 it is a JD all the parts are the same.
