Hello-
I know this may not be the right forum to post this in, but I figured alot of farmers have this pump and may be able to help.
I just bought Gasboy model 1820 gas pump for $80. Motor works fine and pumps gas, but leaks. Previous owner had not used it in 20 years so I assume all the o-rings and seals dried out. This is the kind of pump that mounts to the top of a fuel storage tank, and has a a protective cabinet around pump parts to protect from weather. It is a 120v electric pump with meter register.
My questions are:
Has anyone rebuilt these before?
How do I know when the vanes and the rotor are shot?
The key that holds the rotor to motor shaft seems to be made of a phenolic material, do you just press the rotor back on to the key when reinstalling?
Can I use round o-rings on covers instead of the square cut o-rings?
Anyone have any rebuild parts for this model?
Any tips when putting back together?
Can anyone tell age by serial number 457574?
Thanks in advance for help!
