Hello-
I know this may not be the right forum to post this in, but I figured alot of farmers have this pump and may be able to help.
I just bought Gasboy model 1820 gas pump for $80. Motor works fine and pumps gas, but leaks. Previous owner had not used it in 20 years so I assume all the o-rings and seals dried out. This is the kind of pump that mounts to the top of a fuel storage tank, and has a a protective cabinet around pump parts to protect from weather. It is a 120v electric pump with meter register.
My questions are:
Has anyone rebuilt these before?
How do I know when the vanes and the rotor are shot?
The key that holds the rotor to motor shaft seems to be made of a phenolic material, do you just press the rotor back on to the key when reinstalling?
Can I use round o-rings on covers instead of the square cut o-rings?
Anyone have any rebuild parts for this model?
Any tips when putting back together?
Can anyone tell age by serial number 457574?
Thanks in advance for help!

| You might call your fuel guy. We got one and it wss leaking several years ago. I ask the delivery man if I could get a rebuild kit for it. He just brought me another old head with the square o-ring with it. Never did say if there was kits available. Still haven't put the head on. |

| This may or may not be helpful, but here goes. We have several of these at work and the first thing to give out is the meter. We end up putting a different meter on them. You can bypass the meter entirely by rerouting the fuel just after the pump. The only reason I mention this is because you don"t say where the your unit is leaking. |

| Paul-
The pump was leaking from the shaft by the motor and some of the caps for bypass, checkvalve. Tookcoversd off and old square cut o-rings were dried out and did not seal when I put plate back on. Found that the mechanical seal was cracked in half, hence the leaking on the shaft.
